Kim Lambert (on site)
Taking shape on a hillside outside Calgary, this new build is designed in close dialogue with the landscape, with architecture shaped around expansive views across the valley.
Large windows frame the surrounding landscape allowing natural light to move through the spaces throughout the day. The interiors will follow that same connection to place, layering Canadian stone, natural wood, tile, and tactile materials to create a palette that will feel grounded in its surroundings.
Four days on site offered the opportunity to experience the project at full scale and study the relationships that drawings can only begin to describe: volume, proportion, movement, light, and the precise framing of the views beyond.
The architecture is beginning to take shape. The material story will follow, rooted in the landscape and designed to feel as though it belongs there.
